The Internet’s New Voice? Generic, Overpolished, and Boring as Hell.

Vishal Adhlakha23 Jul 20252 min read

Scroll through five blog posts today and I’ll bet you spot the pattern.

Clean intro.
Bullet points.
Safe metaphors.
Overused phrases like “in today’s fast-paced world” or “unlock your true potential.”

Polished to perfection and emotionally flat.

You didn’t just stumble into bad writing.
You stumbled into AI-generated writing.

And it’s everywhere now.

The Internet’s New Voice? Generic, Overpolished, and Boring as Hell.

We’re Not Drowning in Content. We’re Drowning in Sameness.

AI has made it ridiculously easy to produce blog posts, landing pages, and LinkedIn carousels.
You don’t need a copywriter. You need a prompt and five minutes.

And that’s the problem.
Most of what’s being published isn’t bad.
It’s just lifeless.

It’s content in the most literal sense, something to fill the gap.
Not something to remember.

How to Spot AI-Generated Copy (Without a Detector)

You don’t need tools to figure it out.
You just need to feel slightly dead inside after reading it.

Common signs:
- A tone that’s trying to please everyone
- Paragraphs that follow perfect structure but go nowhere
- Buzzwords stacked like Lego bricks: “synergy,” “innovation,” “impact”
- Conclusions that read like motivational posters

It’s like the blog post version of an airport TED Talk.

The Real Issue? No Voice. No Point of View.

AI can write cleanly.
But it rarely writes with conviction.

That’s what makes human writing human, the imperfections, the weird phrasing, the moments where you take a side or say something you’re not 100 percent sure is correct.

Real writing is a risk.
AI avoids risk by default.

We Trained AI on the Internet. And Now the Internet Sounds Like AI.

The irony is brutal.
We fed AI the entire web, and now the web is feeding itself back in template loops.

Everything sounds like a remix of something you’ve already read.
Slightly reworded. Slightly more polished. Slightly less interesting.

It’s content that optimizes for publishing, not for feeling.

The Internet’s New Voice? Generic, Overpolished, and Boring as Hell.

So What’s the Fix?

Honestly, it’s not that complicated.

Start saying something real.
Write like you care.
Inject an opinion.
Use a weird metaphor.
Cut the safe phrases.
Break the format.

AI isn’t going to stop writing. But it’s already made one thing clear. If your content sounds like everyone else’s, it might as well have been written by a bot.

And people can tell.

Final Thought

The new internet voice is clean.
It’s competent.
It’s technically impressive.

But it’s also painfully boring.

The good news? That means anything with a pulse stands out more than ever.

So use your voice.
That’s the one thing AI still can’t fake.

Hey, I’m Vishal, a product designer, vibe coder, and someone who’s been deep in the trenches with tools like Webflow and Framer for years. I run OhhMyAds, a small studio where we help brands go from messy ideas to clean, high-performing websites that actually do the job.

Most of what I write here comes straight from real client work, late-night rebuilds, and way too many “quick fixes” that turned into full-blown redesigns. If you’re into design that looks good but also makes sense, stick around.
